How can I improve overall system performance in Windows 7?
Disabling Aero has shown to improve the overall system performance. If users intend to keep aero on, disabling glass effect/theme on aero might be an option to consider.
Users can disable Aero by changing their desktop theme to a basic theme. Right click the desktop, and select “Personalize” and then choose a basic theme.
Ensure that your system has the latest drivers installed, and that all necessary operating system updates have been applied as well.
Some manufactured systems have the capacity for increased memory. Refer to the manufacturer of your system for information on upgrade compatibility and availability.
