Volume Creation Failed Error

Last Reviewed: 11-Mar-2016

What is the problem?

An error message that says "Volume creation failed" appears when you try to create a RAID volume.

How to fix

Are you trying to migrate your data to a RAID volume?

If yes, there may not be enough unpartitioned space at the end of the existing hard drive to add the RAID information. If possible, decrease the partition size on that hard drive by a few MBs and then try to create the RAID volume again.

If not, are you trying to create a second volume on an array?

If the answer is yes, the volume you are creating may not be supported in combination with the first volume on the array. Select a volume type and number of hard drives for that volume that are supported and then try to create the RAID volume again.
