Operators look to Intel to develop smarter shopping experiences
As vending technology evolves, new machines are going well beyond dispensing snacks and drinks. Intel helps transform these machines into intelligent, stand-alone systems with a multitude of new features—including HD digital signs, interactive touchscreen controls, even cashless payment mechanisms—to create a fuller, more engaging shopping experience.
Smart vending technology is just one of the components of the Intel Connected Store model for better, more immersive retail experiences. To learn more, watch this Vending technology video, read about Intel's vision for retail, or explore developer resources for vending system design.
How Intel technology makes them intelligent
The new breed of customizable and engaging vending systems deliver amazing experiences through the use of Intel architecture and technologies such as Intel® AIM Suite for audience detection and analytics. As a result, new machines can more actively promote and sell a wide variety of products to prospective customers—from sunglasses and sunscreen to electronics and fresh food.
On the flip side, remote management capabilities from Intel® AMT, including automated inventory monitoring and ordering, help deliver still more business intelligence to their operators, virtually eliminating lost sales opportunities.
Interactive technologies draw customers in
Interactive touchscreens, HD video, and multimedia displays invite customers to easily browse through products, view details, and make informed selections, further enhancing the overall customer experience.
Many intelligent vending systems now incorporate contactless payment options, as well. Contactless cards (no PIN required) from major credit card companies and near field communication-enabled mobile devices allow customers without cash on hand to safely, conveniently, and quickly pay for items.

Manage thousands of machines at once
Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) makes it easy to remotely monitor real-time inventory, proactively schedule restocking and diagnose systems operations, so retailers can reduce operating costs and boost profits. If a vending system malfunctions, an alert automatically goes out to maintenance staff, reducing downtime and lost sales opportunities. Even new advertisements can be initiated remotely, decreasing labor costs and time to deployment.
