R. Paul Crawford, Ph.D.: Paul is a Senior Research Scientist in Intel Labs currently focused on developing and validating new technologies and methodologies for user experience assessment. Paul also serves as co-Principal Investigator of the Senior Independent Living Research (SILvR) Network Initiative – an effort committed to developing a collaborative research infrastructure to accelerate innovation, discovery, and evidence in independent living. Prior to his current role, Paul worked as the Director of Health Product Research in Intel’s Digital Health Group, which was successfully spun out as a joint venture with GE Healthcare into the company Care Innovations in 2011. Prior to joining Intel, Paul was the Chief Technology Officer of O.N. Diagnostics where he led the research, development, and commercialization of high performance computing technologies used in the noninvasive assessment of bone properties and osteoporosis. Before O.N. Diagnostics, Paul conducted basic, applied, and translational bioengineering research at the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco; the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Lab at the University of California, Berkeley; and Exponent, Inc. Paul is active in a broad collection of academic, conference, and corporate advisory boards and received his Ph.D. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.
