As a leading IT solution provider in the Midwest, PDS is using Intel® vPro™ technology-based PCs to cement their leadership position and maintain strong influence within their accounts. “Our guiding mission is to help our clients get out of IT so they can focus on the things that are more strategic to their business,” says Chris Thorsen, vice president of product development at PDS. “Deploying systems with Intel vPro technology is a perfect example of that.” The advanced remote manageability and security features built into PCs with Intel vPro technology allow PDS’ customers to lower the cost of managing desktops and laptops while it simultaneously improves IT functions. “Lots of customers have heard of Intel vPro technology, but when they actually see the benefits demonstrated they immediately want to understand how to incorporate it into their environment,” explains Thorsen. “Showing the customer this technology puts us in a leadership position. Technical excellence leads to trust, and trust puts us in a trusted advisor role. Intel vPro technology helps position us as a thought leader. It definitely differentiates us from our competition.”
Proven Technology at the Right Time
Introduced in 2006, PCs based on Intel vPro technology have a track record of solid, quantifiable benefits. “Intel vPro technology is no longer a new technology for early adopters, but a proven technology,” notes Thorsen. “People are embracing vPro today and revisiting some of the earlier hesitation they had a couple of years ago. 100 percent of our PDS systems sold and about 75 percent of the HP systems we sell are enabled with Intel vPro technology.” Trying economic times are also accelerating interest in the technology. “The recession is causing customers to know that they have to do more with less—less dollars or less staff or both. Therefore, people are taking a hard look at Intel vPro technology. They know they need to automate more.”
