Intel Microelectronics Asia Ltd, (Intel Taiwan) is the company's Asia Pacific stronghold for the development of desktop and notebook computers, as well as communications devices. As part of Intel's Asia Pacific Sales and Marketing Organization, Intel Taiwan operations encompass product promotion, platform support, research and development (R&D), procurement, marketing, and education initiatives. In addition, Intel Taiwan provides world-class sales and support to the Taiwan's PC industry at the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), developer, and end-user levels.
To meet the growing regional needs in platform support and R&D, Intel Taiwan established the Application Design-In Center and an Intel Innovation Center in 1995 and 2003, respectively. By creating a collaborative environment, these programs enable Intel and Taiwan companies to discover methods of integrating Intel solutions into their products and achieve rapid time-to-market results.
The Intel Developer Forum (IDF), which Intel Taiwan has hosted since 1996, is widely recognized by both the industry and media as a significant benchmark for information technology (IT) developments. This event invites Intel senior executives from management, R&D, and IT to share the latest technology developments and trends with the media, industry analysts, and Asian Pacific PC, components, and motherboard manufacturers. Intel Taiwan also maintains a very significant presence at other conferences such as Computex Taipei, Taipei Computer Applications Show and Info Month.
Committed to helping Taiwan develop a hi-tech economy, Intel Taiwan sponsors a number of education-related initiatives to develop technical awareness and talent for the future. Besides participating in globally recognized programs, such as the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network and the Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), Intel Taiwan has also partners with the Taiwan Ministry of Education, National Taiwan Normal University, National Chiao Tung University and National Ching Hwa University to develop innovative teaching methods that incorporate information technology into student courses from the elementary to the university level. As part of a joint research project, the Innovation Center partners with local universities to focus on developing and understanding new technology in the wireless and networking communications arena. Intel Taiwan also donates high-tech equipment to help Taiwan's colleges and universities maintain their labs. To provide real-time insight to working in the technology industry, employees from Intel Taiwan share their experiences during regularly scheduled talks at the country's colleges and universities.
