Seoul is a land of both modern and ancient wonders. Its fast-paced freeways, luxury hotels and striking skyscrapers contrast with its timeless temples and old-world pagodas. Old Seoul makes a pleasant tour for taking in timeworn treasures and exploring galleries and museums, while the more southern area of Itaewon area offers plentiful shopping and exciting nightspots. Of course, delicious Korean food can be found on just about every corner. All of Seoul is connected by a solid public transportation system to get you wherever you need to go.
Yeouido Park, in the very middle of the city, offers over 21,000 square meters of ponds, biking trails and a cultural plaza. And for an even more intense taste of what Seoul has to offer nature lovers, climb Gwanaksan Mountain. It takes about five hours to get to the top and glimpse an amazing view of the city and Seoul National University. Namsan Park, the remainder of what was once royal Seoul, now contains Seoul Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world, along with restaurants and plenty of other tourist attractions. The 14th-century Joseon Dynasty Palaces are a breathtaking sight. The Changdeokgung Palace, where the royal family now lives, offers guided tours.
