Blizzard Touches the Future of Card Games
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft*
PC gamers can literally touch the future of collectible card games (CCG) on Intel® processor-based tablets running on Windows* 8 with Blizzard Entertainment’s new collectible card game.
Blizzard Entertainment continues to build on its award-winning Warcraft* universe with a new digital collectible card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft*. The growth of tablets and 2-in-1 systems has set the stage for game developers to use touch technology to deliver players the experience of tactile interaction. Blizzard’s free-to-play CCG is available across a wide array of platforms, including Intel® Atom™ processor-based tablets, bringing the mobility—and roots—of card games to the digital realm, allowing players to use gestures to draw cards and summon powerful minions or sling spells with ease.
Touch the Future
With touch-based gestures, playing Hearthstone on your touch-enabled device feels like handling a physical deck. Players will notice that their interaction with the cards will have virtual weight and physicality. Special effects enhance the experience of dropping a card to the surface, like the cloud of dust formed when a Core Hound enters the fray.
Heathstone’s use of the Warcraft* universe separates it from the crowded digital CCG space. Players will have access to Blizzard's dynamic cast of characters and cool spells that World of Warcraft* gamers are already familiar with. Hearthstone will introduce new fans to this universe in a much more accessible gameplay experience.
Tablets, 2-in-1 devices, and portable All-in-Ones also bring a portable aspect to digital CCGs that harkens back to the original paper cards. Gamers can pick up their device and play a game wherever they can get online, and players have remote access to their custom decks, thanks to Blizzard’s servers. In addition to mobility, Intel® processor-based mobile devices give you desktop-level experiences on a portable platform.
