Intel is aimed at improving environmental management systems through transparency and stakeholder engagement.
In 1996, Intel's Ocotillo facility signed an agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency under the Project XL (eXcellence and Leadership) program. The partnership was designed to spur innovation in environmental and public health protection. Though the program officially ended in 2002, Intel continues to meet with the stakeholder group and publicly report environmental data.
The Final Project Agreement was signed on November 19, 1996 at Intel's Ocotillo Site in Chandler, Arizona beginning a new era of engagement.
The Renewal of the Final Project Agreement was signed on January 9, 2002, continuing environmental excellence and performance.
The U.S. EPA's Region 9 office selected the Intel Project XL Stakeholder Team for its 2006 Environmental Achievement Award in recognition of their commitment to protecting the environment.
