The Intel® 7500 chipset and Intel® 7500 Scalable Memory Buffer support the 45nm, high-k Intel® Xeon® processor 7500/6500 series and Intel® Itanium® processor 9300 series.
The Intel 7500 chipset is built for the Intel® QuickPath Architecture allowing for exceptional bandwidth for I/O in addition to advanced virtualization support with Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT) for Directed I/O (Intel® VT-d). It supports Intel® QuickPath Interconnects at 6.4 GT/s, 5.86 GT/s, and 4.8 GT/s speeds. Additionally, this chipset delivers up to dual x16 or quad x8 PCI Express* 2.0 card support, and support for Intel® High Performance Solid State Drives on ICH10 and ICH10R.
The Intel 7500 Scalable Memory Buffer enables large memory capacity and delivers more memory bandwidth. It supports two DDR3 memory channels, each supporting up to 2 RDIMMs per channel, at speeds of 800MHz, 978MHz, or 1066MHz. It also supports DIMM capacities up to 16GB.

|---|---|---|
| Intel® QuickPath Interconnect (Intel® QPI) at 6.4, 5.86, and 4.8 GT/s | Intel® QuickPath Interconnect design increases bandwidth and lowers latency. | |
| PCI Express* Gen2 I/O | Serial I/O technology provides a direct connection between the MCH chipset and PCI Express* component/adapters with bandwidth up to 48 GB/s on each PCI Express Gen2 x8 interface. PCI Express offers higher bandwidth, lower latency, and fewer I/O bottlenecks than PCI-X. | |
| Enhanced Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT) | Enhancements to Intel VT performance that further speeds up virtual machine transition (entry/exit) times. Supports hardware assist for I/O virtualization using Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (Intel® VT-d). Supports Intel® Virtualization Technology for Connectivity (Intel® VT-c) which reduces I/O latency. |
