Intel® 3000 and 3010 Chipset

The Intel® 3000 and 3010 Chipsets are designed for use with Intel® Xeon® 3000 Sequence, Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 600 Sequence, Intel® Pentium® D processor 800 Sequence and 900 Sequence, and Intel® Celeron® D, in the LGA775 package in entry-level UP server platforms. The chipset contains two components: Memory Controller Hub (MCH) and Intel® I/O Controller Hub 7 (ICH7). The MCH provides the interface to the processor, main memory, PCI Express*, and the ICH7. The ICH7 is the seventh generation I/O Controller Hub and provides a multitude of I/O related functions.

Intel® 3000 Chipset supports one PCI Express x8 port. Intel® 3010 Chipset supports two PCI Express x8 ports or one PCI Express x16 port.

Features and benefits
Supports dual-core processors Provides two execution cores in one physical processor helping increase system responsiveness and performance for multi-tasking.
1066/800/533 MHz FSB Supports Intel® Xeon® processor 3000 sequence, Intel® Pentium® D processor and other Intel Pentium processors in the LGA775 socket, with scalability for future processor innovations
Supports Hyper-Threading Technology Delivers higher processing throughput and faster response times for multi-tasking, multi-threading workload environments
Supports Intel® 64 Architecture Runs 64-bit code and accesses larger amounts of memory while also capable of running existing 32-bit applications
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology Enables focused platform and software power management to lower average power consumption while maintaining application performance and improving acoustics
PCI Express* I/O Interfaces supports 1 x8 with the Intel® 3000 chipset, and 2 x8, or 1 x16 with the Intel® 3010 chipset The Intel 3010 Chipset supports flexible I/O with 2x8 or 1x16 PCI Express, and the Intel 3000 Chipset provides a single PCI Express I/O x8 port . Also provides configurable Intel® I/O Controller Hub (ICH7R) 1x4/2x1 PCI Express ports to meet higher I/O server demands. Multiple interfaces eliminates the need for bridge solutions and reduces server bottlenecks.
PCI-X Interface Support legacy PCI-X server adapters using the Intel 6702PXH 64-bit PCI hub
Memory Support for Dual Channel DDR2 667/533 with ECC support Larger memory capacity than previous generation for more demanding and complex applications and provides ECC for data integrity protection
Integrated Serial ATA* Controller Facilitates high-speed storage and data transfers up to 3 Gb/s supporting latest storage technology with support for up to four independent Serial ATA hard disk drives.
Intel® Matrix Storage Technology Boosts storage performance with RAID 0 while protecting data with RAID 1 on the same disk. RAID 5 and 10 provide both increased data protection and performance
Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) Helps improve IT efficiency by providing remote down-the-wire server management to allow asset management, out of band management, and diagnostics regardless of system state

Product and Performance Information

1. Look for systems with the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor supporting Hyper-Threading Technology logo and also including an Intel® 925, 915, or 910 Express Chipset (see the product spec sheet or ask your salesperson). Performance and functionality will vary depending on (i) the specific hardware and software you use and (ii) the feature enabling/system configuration by your system vendor. See www.intel.com/products/ht/hyperthreading_more.htm for information on HT Technology or consult your system vendor for more information.

2. Intel® Matrix Storage Technology requires a motherboard with the Intel® 82801IR (ICH9R) I/O Controller Hub System. The system must also have the RAID controller in the BIOS enabled and the Intel Matrix Storage Technology software driver installed. Please consult your system vendor for more information.

3. Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) requires the platform to have an Intel AMT-enabled chipset, network hardware and software, as well as connection with a power source and a corporate network connection. Setup of Intel AMT requires configuration by the purchaser and may require scripting with the management console or further integration into existing security frameworks to enable certain functionality. It may also require modifications or implementation of new business processes. With regards to notebooks, Intel AMT may not be available or certain capabilities may be limited over a host OS-based VPN or when connecting wirelessly, on battery power, sleeping, hibernating or powered off.
