Intel® Xeon® Processor E7-2800 v2 Product Family

Two-socket technical computing performance benchmarks

Intel® Xeon® processor

Make business intelligence your competitive advantage. The Intel® Xeon® processor E7-8800/4800/2800 v2 product families—unlock the potential of your data. It’s incredible what you can find when you know where to look.

Floating point throughput performance using SPECfp*_rate_base2006

This CPU-intensive benchmark suite, stressing a system's processor, memory subsystem, and compiler providing a comparative measure of compute-intensive performance across the widest practical range of hardware using workloads developed from real user applications. The speed results compare the ability to complete a single task while the rate results measure the throughput of multiple tasks. The metrics are based on a geometric mean of normalized ratios. For more information, see www.spec.org/cpu2006.

Reduce your server count by increasing your per server performance with the next generation Intel Xeon processor E7 v2 product family:

>         From Intel Xeon processor X7460, increased SPECfp_rate_base2006 performance by up to 11.7x

>         From Intel Xeon processor X7560, increased SPECfp_rate_base2006 performance by up to 2.3x

>         From Intel Xeon processor E7-4870, increased SPECfp_rate_base2006 performance by up to 2.3x

Leave room to grow your business faster while maintaining your existing data center footprint. Increase your per server performance with the next generation two-socket server based on the Intel Xeon processor E7-4890 v2 with up to 1.2x faster performance than the two-socket server based on the Intel Xeon processor E5-2697 v2.

Improve your business efficiency by choosing servers based on Intel Xeon processor E7-4890 v2 with up to 66% faster performance over IBM POWER 740 Express* (POWER7+*).

Best two-socket publications as of February 2014.

Product and Performance Information

open

1. Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel® microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations, and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products. For more information, go to www.intel.com/performance.

2. Intel does not control or audit the design or implementation of third party benchmarks or websites referenced in this document. Intel encourages all of its customers to visit the referenced websites or others where similar performance benchmarks are reported and confirm whether the referenced benchmarks are accurate and reflect performance of systems available for purchase.

3. Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. See www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html for details.

4. Intel's compilers may or may not optimize to the same degree for non-Intel microprocessors for optimizations that are not unique to Intel® microprocessors. These optimizations include SSE2 and SSE3 instruction sets and other optimizations. Intel does not guarantee the availability, functionality, or effectiveness of any optimization on microprocessors not manufactured by Intel. Microprocessor-dependent optimizations in this product are intended for use with Intel microprocessors. Certain optimizations not specific to Intel® microarchitecture are reserved for Intel microprocessors. Please refer to the applicable product user and reference guides for more information regarding the specific instruction sets covered by this notice. Notice revision #20110804

5. Comparisons are based on the maximum number of processor sockets available in the competitive systems, which may be different than the number of processors/chips listed in the benchmark results. Comparisons to competitive 8-socket systems were done using systems supporting more than 8-processor sockets.

6. SPEC* and the benchmark names SPECint*, SPECfp*, SPECjbb*, SPECjEnterprise*, SPECvirt_sc*, SPECpower_ssj*, SPECompM*, and SPECompL* are registered trademarks of the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation.
