How it works

How it works

Intel vPro technology with Location-Based Services integrates the capabilities of an AeroScout* Wi-Fi tag directly into the device. As a result, these systems are able to beacon a special Wi-Fi packet that is received by access points in range and used to determine location.

Built-in savings

Built-in savings

Intel vPro technology with Location-Based Services can work with Wi-Fi networks commonly found in today’s enterprise environments. Because this capability is integrated directly into the platform, you can avoid the need to purchase and deploy discrete Wi-Fi tags. IT can also take advantage of the remote management capabilities of Intel vPro technology2 to quickly and efficiently manage groups of tags.

Real-time data

Real-time data

Once the location of a device is determined, it can be used to enable new location-based usages. AeroScout has released a trial version of its MobileView* software to work with Intel®-based devices, including support for two key capabilities:

  • Find Near Me supports location-related usages, such as helping to locate nearby assets.
  • IT Asset Tracking helps determine the location of devices with Intel vPro technology, even when those devices are in sleep mode.
