How Intel® Anti-Theft Technology works

Because Intel® Anti-Theft Technology (Intel® AT) is built right into the processor of your laptop, it’s activated as soon as the machine is turned on—even before startup.

If your laptop is lost or stolen, a local or remote “poison pill” can be activated that renders your PC laptop completely inoperable. This means that predators cannot hack into the system at startup.

Intel® AT works even without Internet access and, unlike many other solutions, is hardware based, so it is tamper resistant.

Go from stolen to recovery in four steps

Detects laptop theft. Detects suspicious behavior such as excessive login attempts or failure to check in with your server.
Guards your data. Hardware-level technology disables laptop and data access even if your hard drive is removed, replaced, or reformatted.
Restores operation easily. When your laptop is recovered, it can be quickly restored with a pass-phrase or single-use token, without damage to data.
Delivers “Good Samaritan” message. A personalized recovery message on your screen facilitates laptop recovery.
