Intel in the Community
Introduction
At Intel we believe that corporate responsibility is simply good business. Our strategy is to care for our people, care for the planet, and inspire the next generation. As a technology industry innovator and a leader in corporate responsibility, we continually look for ways to create a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
Community
Each year a large percentage of our employee population across Ireland volunteer their time in local communities. In the last 5 years employees have volunteered nearly 500,000 hours supporting a variety of community based initiatives and projects.
Each year Intel Ireland selects signature charities, giving employees the opportunity to volunteer their time and raise funds through specially organised activities, for those organisations. In 2023 Intel supported Blood Bikes East, throughout the year employees took part in numerous events to raise funds and generate awareness in support of the charity.
The Intel Involved Matching Grant program awards cash grants to schools, charities, and nonprofit organisation where Intel employees volunteer their time. The grants are accrued based on the number of hours that are volunteered by Intel employees at organisations, which are registered as part of the program.
As of 2023, more than €10 million has been donated to charities, schools, sports clubs, and nonprofits across Ireland.
Stakeholders
At Intel Ireland we strive to be a valued and conscientious member of the community. In support of that objective we established the Community Advisory Panel (CAP) in early 1994. The purpose of the CAP is to ensure there is an active two–way flow of information and consultation between Intel and the community in which we work. The CAP meets regularly to review new developments on the Leixlip campus, to raise issues, which may potentially affect the community, and to help set the direction for Intel's community efforts.
Every 2 years Intel Ireland conducts a community perception survey amongst members of our local community (Lexlip, Maynooth and Celbridge). This survey has been conducted by Intel Ireland since 1995 and aims to gauge the reach and success of Intel community activities, to determine sources of information relating to Intel, to identify any areas of concern for those in our locality and to determine current attitudes toward Intel.
