The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) realized that it needed to adapt to the rapidly changing business and regulatory environment in the health care industry to sustain Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies’ leadership as a premier provider of high-quality, affordable health care plans in America. The solution was to develop a service and data integration platform, named Mediation Layer, that leveraged Intel® Expressway Service Gateway as a central point of integration for cloud-based web services from third-party vendors, BCBSA, and licensee plans.
