Digital Single Market for Content and Services
In recent years the Internet has become increasingly pervasive in our lives. Multimedia content is enjoyed and generated by consumers through a wide variety of devices. Fostering the growth of a vibrant Digital Single Market requires striking the right balance between the interests of rightholders, publishers, distributors, consumers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and technology vendors. Proliferation of opaque and distortive copyright levies, as well as technology mandates for content filtering should be avoided. Interoperable Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies offer possibilities for finding the right balance of interests.
Innovation, Intellectual Property and Standards
Intel is based on innovation. Innovation relies to a large extent on policies that reward and protect intellectual property. We therefore support policy efforts that encourage and protect innovation, and ensure a balanced intellectual property protection. Intel encourages innovation throughout the industry by forming, leading and contributing to a wide range of standards and specifications groups.

eHealth
Intel advocates a proactive model that uses technology to anticipate, pre-empt and manage health status changes and risks - lowering costs even as it improves quality of life and quality of care. In the EU, Intel fully supports the European Commission’s e-Health Action Plan and urges European decision makers to push forward legislation catering for the adoption and reimbursement of telehealth services.
Trade
Free movement of products, people and ideas are essential to continued innovation and rapid take up of new technologies. Our industry is global in nature with regard to its markets, manufacturing, supply chain, R&D activities and employees. Intel therefore works proactively to remove technical and non-technical barriers to trade.

Environment and Energy
Intel strives to be a leader in environmental protection and is committed to reducing its environmental footprint by working towards global goals and targets, often over and above compliance with regulatory requirements. Intel works together with regulators and key stakeholders to identify environmental problems and to ensure that the most appropriate policy tool is used to address the issue, from self-regulation to the introduction of new legislation that is enforceable and based on sound science and sustainable impact analyses. Intel also supports policies and regulations to promote the enabling role of ICT to help economies and societies to become more sustainable. We advance policies that help drive sustainable economic growth through ICT-enabled energy efficiency and clean energy innovation across every sector of the EU economy.
Privacy and Security
Privacy and security are fundamental to developing trust in the digital economy. Intel supports technology neutral legislation that focuses on the appropriate use of personal data and targets inappropriate use. Intel designs in privacy so that the technology provides better user choice and control for handling of personal data. We also build a security foundation into our products.
Broadband Communications
Broadband Internet communication, wired and wireless, is essential in today’s economies and societies. Investment in new networks and technologies must be encouraged by regulatory regimes. Radio spectrum is a key resource and its technology and service neutral use and tradeability will spur innovation and growth of new wireless services and technologies. Examples of these new technologies are WiMAX and LTE, providing mobility and high capacity broadband connectivity.
Research and Key Enabling Technologies
Europe is a significant location for both Intel’s R&D and manufacturing. We are involved in formulating the research policies and engaged in European Union funded collaborative research. In order to ensure competitive conditions for semiconductor research and manufacturing in Europe, Intel contributes to the European Commission’s Key Enabling Technologies initiative.
