Nigeria
In Nigeria, the Intel® classmate PC has opened students' eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. Stimulating software and the ability for live interaction with people around the globe has made classroom learning more interesting and effective. Students are eager to learn, consistently set higher aspirations, and have greater confidence in their ability to realize their dreams.
Thailand
The Intel classmate PC is a key ingredient in the 1:1 eLearning trial project in Thailand. Together, students and teachers are developing new ways of learning that increase classroom efficiency. Students consistently have more fun, are more interested, and have access to vast amounts of information and media on the Internet. The classmate PC is the foundation for Thai students to improve their competitive position in an increasingly digital world.
Portugal
Bold action was needed to achieve Portugal's development goals through the creation of a more skilled and well-prepared workforce. The entire community (government, software providers, telecommunications partners, Intel, and J.P. Sá Couto) banded together to enable every child in Portugal, more than 500,000 in all, to receive an Intel classmate PC. Through the Magellan Initiative, Portugal is helping its children become more qualified and better able to compete in today’s knowledge economy.
Brazil
In Brazil, the classmate PC has transformed the way students learn and the way they think about school. Learning has become faster and deeper as students become more interested, involved, and resourceful in their education. The nature of the classmate PC makes the once unreachable concept of 1:1 technology a reality.
Gobi Desert
RacingThePlanet* is an organization that challenges individuals to go beyond their current athletic frontiers while exploring the most remote landscapes and ancient cultures on the planet. How do participants blog and communicate with loved ones from the middle of the Gobi desert? RacingThePlanet* created a "CyberTent" by deploying Intel-powered classmate PCs at a staged camp along the course. The lightweight, low-cost, low-power, and rugged PCs proved to be an ingenious solution that brought tears to one participant’s eyes.
