The Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack enables local copies of any LUN (virtual drive) when it is not being actively used by a compute module. This capability, which does not require any special software to be run on a compute module, simplifies tasks such as creating a local copy of a data LUN and creating a new OS LUN, which can be assigned to a new compute module as the boot LUN, by copying an existing LUN that already has an OS installed.
Common uses of the Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack includes:
- Local backup
- Operating system provisioning/deployment
- Non-production environment testing
- Offline RAID morphing
- Online RAID morphing
- Online defragmentation
This software upgrade is activated by typing an Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack license key on an Intel® Modular Server. The license key is generated with a unique paper pack ID number and system serial number at the Intel® Modular Server License Key Activation website.
