Appendix: Methodology and Audience
Responses to this survey were gathered via an online questionnaire; 200 responses were received between May 25, 2011 and June 2, 2011. A sample size of 200 has a maximum sampling variability of ±6.9 percent at the 95 percent confidence level. Respondents were screened to ensure that they meet the following criteria: • Work in a company of 100-plus employees • Are IT professionals • Are involved in decision making processes and strategic planning for clients in their organization • Have implemented, are currently implementing, are evaluating, or plan to evaluate desktop virtualization • Represent what Intel identifies as a “tech enthusiast” company—that is, a company that considers IT to be a driver of business success Being an Intel customer was not a consideration for inclusion in the survey. Quotas for company size and industry were enforced to ensure a representative sample.
