As Sponsors of Tomorrow™, we are continually driving innovation in technology to deliver faster, more powerful and more efficient products that allow you to do everything from making amazing scientific discoveries to just checking your email. While our technology is constantly evolving to meet the needs of a global society, we recognize the need to evolve our brand structure too, in a way that makes it easier for you to decide which technology is right for you.
That's why we've developed new, simplified product categories across a wide range of products to help you quickly find the best technology for your needs.
To clear away the confusion of evaluating and comparing different processor brands, we are consolidating most of our processors under a single umbrella: the Intel® Core™ Processor family.
Three defined processor levels – Intel® Core™ i7 processor, Intel® Core™ i5 processor and Intel® Core™ i3 processor – quickly communicate where a processor fits along the product spectrum. You will still have plenty of choices, but it will be simpler to determine which is the right one for you.
This effort will evolve over time, with the overall effort to reduce the number of brands taking place over the next year. Desktops powered by the Intel Core i7 processor are already being offered. Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i3 processors will launch in the coming months. Other older brands will still be in the market but will phase out over time.
This new Intel® Core™ processor family is part of our broader offering to the PC market which also includes Intel® Pentium® and Intel® Celeron® processors. Watch for new products to be added to each of these lines in the future.
Deborah Conrad, Vice President and Director of Corporate Marketing breaks down Intel’s new processor names and what they mean for you.

If you are looking for the best processors for business, our Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors will be available with Intel® vPro™ technology in 2010. Intel vPro technology offers best in class security and manageability for business. Just look for the Intel vPro brand identifier on the badge.
As part of our focus on the Intel® Core™ processor family and our effort to make choice easier for consumers, we will transition the Intel® Centrino® name to become the new name for our WiFi and WiMAX wireless product lines beginning in 2010. So as the new Intel Core processor family enter the markets, the Intel® Centrino name will evolve away from a brand for PC systems to represent the best Intel has to offer in Wi-Fi and WiMAX connections.
This spring we introduced a new processor rating system that makes it easy to visually choose products by assigning stars to processors. The more stars a processor has, the more features and capabilities you will find associated with that product. This will help guide you to the right processor based on your specific needs.
We’ve also done a complete redesign of our product badges to reflect the brand changes. The new badges establish a clean and consistent link between Intel’s technology vision and each of our products. The badge shape itself has been modified from vertical to horizontal as well, and you’ll now notice that one corner reveals a section of colorful silicon die that helps communicate the role of the technology inside.
