Community involvement: Intel's community commitment

Intel in Your Community - Washington Intel employees contribute thousands of volunteer hours each year through the Intel Involved program, which coordinates local education programs and community service projects. In 2006, Intel employees reported more than 5,000 volunteer hours.

Intel Involved education activities include National Engineers Week, Junior Achievement's Go Figure! applied math program, the South Sound Regional Science Fair, Reading Rockets, and MESA regional events.

Intel encourages employees to take an active role in education activities by matching volunteer hours with cash awards to schools. The Intel Foundation made unrestricted cash grants of USD 26,400 to 32 local schools in 2006. Most of the recipient schools are located in Pierce and Thurston counties.

Intel employees also volunteered at the Special Olympics Washington Summer Games, participated in United Way Day of Caring, and supported more than twenty families in Pierce and Thurston counties during the holidays through the Adopt-a-Family program.
