Intel opened its doors in Washington in 1996 and now operates research and development facilities in Pierce and King counties.
The DuPont Development Center is located just off I–5 in Northwest Landing, a 3,000 acre planned community a few miles south of Tacoma. The current site population is approximately 1,100. The primary mission of the DuPont site is engineering research and development with a focus on powerful and efficient technology platforms for business, including computer servers using the Intel® Xeon® processor.
Engineers in DuPont also help design chipsets for server systems, power and thermal solutions, and diagnostic tools that are used in testing and validation of various components and computer systems.
At Intel Research Seattle, near the University of Washington campus, Intel and university researchers are exploring new technologies to support the ubiquitous computing environments of the future.
