Intel Russia's Education Program mission: Drive education improvement for the knowledge economy as the trusted partner of educators and governments

Intel global education initiatives combine several tracks in higher and secondary educational establishments in Russia helping high school and university students develop their higher-level thinking skills that will give them the foundation to participate and succeed in today's highly information technology focused economy. Since 1998, Intel’s education initiatives have provided access to modern computer technology for more than 30,000 high schools and university students across Russia. Intel Russia also created more than 10 educational research laboratories based in major Russian universities, and a number of wireless competency centers. And just recently, Intel started a university initiative to focus on programming for multicore and announced a new High-Performance Computing Competency Network.

Intel® Higher Education Program

Russia's Intel® Higher Education Program focuses on:
  • Workforce pipeline development: developing a pipeline of world-class technical talent to meet the increasing demand for highly skilled workforce
  • Research program development: building up Russian universities' capability for leading edge research
  • Ecosystem enabling: enabling the ecosystem to accelerate key industries development
Workforce pipeline development is an objective to enable and deliver candidates that meet the high-tech industry's hiring needs and ensure core competency development and growth in the direction of new technology platform and evolution. Recently, Intel Higher Education Program in Russia started a Multicore University Program which is designed to grow a new generation of software engineers and create a new application and tools for multicore architecture.

Intel Cup Final Winners Ceremony. The moment of rewarding. Research program development creates the knowledge pool to address future technology challenges and enable a relevant technology ecosystem. Intel is currently working with leading Russian universities through a variety of programs providing research grants and other open and collaborative research labs.

Ecosystem enabling supports business development opportunities with market enabling programs. Wireless Competency Network, High Performance Computing Competency Network, and Technology Entrepreneurship Programs are examples of initiatives aimed at driving and enabling the ecosystem.

K–12 program

K–12 program is oriented for secondary schools with sole focus on the development of technology and scientific skills for educators and students; the program has three major tracks:

Intel® Teach Program
Since 2002, more than 240,000 Russian teachers and students of pedagogical universities, within the framework of Intel® Teach Program, have been trained in more than 90 regional training centers. The training includes a focus on the use of the latest information technology tools and applications relevant to educational methodology that facilitate and enhance teaching as well as students' learning.

Intel Science Competitions
Intel science competitions, including the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), recognize and reward the achievements of today's young scientists. For the past 9 years, Russian secondary school students from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine have participated annually in Intel ISEF. More than 5,500 students have passed pre-fair competition, and in 2005 a Russia/CIS team of 30 finalists received 13 Intel ISEF awards. The competitions raise general awareness and interest of mathematics, science, and engineering, and inspire students to pursue careers in these fields through the promotion of project-based learning and research. For additional information please visit Intel International Science and Engineering Fair homepage.

Intel® Learn Program
In 2005, the pilot project Intel® Learn Program was successfully launched in the Novosibirsk region. Intel provided an innovative methodology for teaching new students skills such as working in teams, critical thinking, problem solving, and project development. Children of 10–14 years of age were keen on this non-mandatory course as they could discuss and work on joint projects. Programs on improving driving schema around the school to increase kids' safety, or on how to make the nearest park clean and green, were especially popular among students. Intel Learn Program is widely supported by the Russian Federation Government.
