Malacanang Palace, September 15, 2008 – President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo witnesses today Intel Philippines’ ceremonial turnover of approximately PHP 80 million in cash grants to the 31 public schools in General Trias, Cavite. These cash grants from the Intel Foundation were generated through the Intel Involved Volunteer Matching Grant Program.(IIMGP).
The ceremonial turnover is a highlight of the National Competitiveness Council Meeting, convened today by Pres. Arroyo. Joining the President at the turnover is Secretary Jesli Lapus of the Department of Education. Leading the NCC meeting is Trade Secretary Peter Favila co-chairman of NCC, together with Mr. Cesar B Bautista, also, co-chair of NCC.
The IIMGP is an innovative corporate social responsibility initiative of Intel that is now on its 4th year of implementation. The program aims to recognize and motivate Intel employees, globally, to engage in outreach and volunteerism to make the communities where Intel facilities are located better places to live, work and play. In the Philippines, every hour of volunteer work rendered by Intel Involved, Intel’s corps of employee volunteers, is matched by the Intel Foundation with a cash grant equivalent to around PHP 80. For the school year 2007 to 2008, Intel Philippines’ employees logged some 480,742 volunteer hours, equivalent to approximately PHP 80 million in cash grants.
Since IIMGP’s implementation in the Philippines in 2004, the Intel Involved volunteers have contributed more than one million volunteer hours in the community, with the Intel Foundation giving some PHP 64 million in cash grants. Through the IIMGP funds generated in the first two years of implementation, the 31 public schools General Trias have done the following: built 24 new classrooms and 2 multi-purpose halls; renovated 17 classrooms; created one (1) speech laboratory , 44 new comfort rooms, two (2) new clinics, five (5) new libraries, five (5) new science and five (5) computer laboratories. A total of 350 new computer units have also been purchased by the various schools. The projects started for the third year of IIMGP are still in in the implementation stage.

Intel Technology Philippines received the Excellence Award in the Innovative Corporate Communications Category at the Asian Publishing Awards 2008 (APA) held recently at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore.
Intel was cited for its CAG-TV, a closed circuit television within the Intel facility, showing employee-made videos of the wide array of corporate responsibility programs of Intel. CAG refers to the Corporate Affairs Group, which manages and drives the CSR endeavors of the microchip company. CAG-TV shows programming 24/7, and it is managed by the Marketing and Communications Team of the Intel Involved, Intel’s corps of employee volunteers. According to Ma Teresa Pacis, Intel’s External Communications Manager, CAG TV is novel because the contents are “produced by the employees for the employees.”
“Since we started CAG TV early this year, our employees have been looking forward to seeing their faces on TV, so to speak,” shares Pacis. Most videos shown on CAG TV are simple presentations created by the employees using software like moviemaker and the like. Pacis considers CAG TV an important avenue for reaching out to the employees, especially since Intel encourages volunteerism among the employees. “CAG TV is a great way to tell the employees what we have been doing in the CSR space. More importantly, CAG TV has become an avenue for our employees to share with each other their many volunteer activities.” With the recent call to render one million volunteer hours collectively to celebrate Intel’s 40th anniversary, CAG TV has been alive with the many volunteer activities done by the Intel Involved in the various schools in General Trias.

Intel unveils digital mural and seeks to continue legacy of technology innovation
July 18 marked the 40th anniversary of Intel Corporation, and the company celebrates not only by looking back at its heritage in technology development — but also by looking forward to the endless possibilities of the future.
To commemorate four decades of bringing innovation to the world, Intel unveiled the World Mural Project, a contemporary online artistic collaboration between Intel’s employee volunteers and children from more than 75 of the company’s computer clubhouses in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. The two Clubhouses in the Philippines, namely, the Mater Dolorosa Computer Clubhouse in Makati and the General Trias Computer Clubhouse in General Trias, Cavite, participates in this memorable endeavour, as well.
The World Mural Project is an online creative and technical platform that showcases the powerful voices of the young people who are part of the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network. It is probably the first youth–developed mural, cutting across multi–lingual and multi–cultural lines. The mural demonstrates the use of technology as a means for creative expression, and highlights the anniversary’s forward–looking theme of how computers can empower people in the next 40 years.
"In line with Intel’s commitment to innovation, we’ve asked the kids — who will be tomorrow’s innovators — to visualize what the future will look like to them," said Arlita Narag, Corporate Affairs Manager, Intel Philippines. "The World Mural, thus, is a channel for them to express themselves, and to develop their creativity and imagination."
Through this global mural project, Intel is engaging young people around the world and asking them to share their perspective on "what computers will empower us to do" over the next 40 years. From the General Trias Computer Clubhouse, the teeners and the Intel Involved volunteers alike worked on the theme, "In 40 years, computers will empower us to teach and transform lives." Meanwhile, the blurb of the Mater Dolorosa Clubhouse is, "In 40 years, computers will empower us to make the impossible, possible."
The World Mural project is part of Intel’s pledge to spend one million volunteer hours on helping local communities around the world. The overall mural design is being supervised by is Bay Area muralist Favianna Rodriguez. Intel volunteers worked with young people worldwide who participated in the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network. More than 75 Clubhouses in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa are contributing to the project: 14 states and the District of Columbia: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Washington; and 21 countries around the world, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Palestine, Panama, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan.
Narag added: "In the last 40 years, Intel technology has shaped the way we live, work and play. With the mural, we wanted our youth to envision how they can create and grow that legacy of innovation in technology."
