Objective

Intel Teach Program improves education through effective use of computers in classrooms, to improve the use of computers as a tool for teaching, and to increase student learning through the use of computers.

Intel will accomplish this by achieving "critical mass" of trained teachers in participating schools. Since the inception of this program, Intel has trained over 100,000 teachers in the United States and 1 million teachers worldwide.

Teacher Training

Intel provides hands-on training for Master Teachers who will train at least 60 others from their school district. The training emphasizes "hands-on" learning and the creation of curricular units and evaluation tools that incorporates use of the Internet, web page design, and multimedia software.

Teachers receive 40 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of homework to supplement the training. Each teacher participant creates student samples, evaluation tools, and support materials (including copies of Microsoft* software) for one curricular unit. Teachers can earn graduate and continuing education units for their participation in this program.

Worldwide Implementation

Worldwide implementation of the Intel Teach Program is based on training curriculum developed originally for U.S. teachers, and is adapted for each country's language, culture, and education system. Intel has developed relations in each country to assist with curriculum adaptation and implementation.
