Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel® ISEF)
About the Program
Held annually in May, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world's largest pre-college science competition, recognizes some of the world's brightest high school students for their scientific achievements with more than $4 million in scholarships and awards. Coming from 50 countries and 46 states, over 1,400 high school students are judged on their creative ability, scientific thought, as well as the thoroughness, skill, and clarity shown in their projects.
2007 Winners
Three students were presented the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award at Intel ISEF 2007. The finalists each received a $50,000 scholarship, a trip to the Nobel Award ceremonies in Stockholm, Sweden, and a high-performance computer. Dmitry Vaintrob from Eugene, Oregon was one of the 3 recipients of the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award, the highest science achievement at Intel ISEF.

High School Volunteer Involvement
Intel Computer Clubhouse: Intel has partnered with two organizations to provide technology clubs for kids in the Portland-metro area. Computer Clubhouses are now open at Beaverton Police Activities League and Salvation Army Moore Center.
Intel Oregon Information Center: Tours and hands-on computer exploration are available for school field trips. Intel even subsidizes the cost of the school buses. Teachers can register for a tour* online.
Job Shadows: Students spend 3-4 hours visiting Intel and exploring high tech careers. Job Shadow opportunities are posted on the BEC's Business Education Links Web site. Students should contact the school-to-work coordinator at their high school for more information.
National Engineers and Technician's Month: Over 200 volunteers provide classroom presentations and hands-on activities to excite students about high-tech careers.
Intel Northwest Science Exposition: Intel funds this event and supplies over 100 judges and volunteers to offer students from across Oregon the opportunity to showcase their science projects and compete for scholarships and other prizes.
Intel 4-H Tech Wizards: Intel employees provide mentoring and leadership development to Latino and other under-served youth, and teach computer and web page skills. Web Wizards is currently offered at Forest Grove, Hillsboro and Sunset High Schools.
