An analysis by ECONorthwest, an independent economics consulting firm, concluded that Intel Oregon and its employees pay at least USD 50 million more in property and personal income taxes each year to support Oregon's public schools than it costs to educate the children of Intel Oregon employees. That excess payment is available to help meet the education needs of other Oregon children.

Through the Volunteer Matching Grants Program, the Intel Foundation donates USD 200 for every 20 hours Intel employees or retirees volunteer at kindergarten through higher education schools. During the 2006–2007 school year, over 1280 Intel Oregon employees volunteered in local schools, with their volunteer time totaling over 49,000 hours. The result was USD 491,200 in Volunteer Matching Grant funds to local schools.

Education-related volunteerism includes National Engineers and Technicians Month presentations in local schools, participation in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) and broad support for Intel Oregon LEGO* League Robotics tournaments. Intel Oregon volunteers also conduct Intel Oregon Information Center (IOIC) tours for thousands of local schoolchildren.
