New Mexico Intel employees manufacture and test some of the most sophisticated products the world has ever seen. They also take their talent and dedication beyond Intel’s walls into the community, where they are actively involved in education and civic programs.
Intel came to New Mexico in 1980 and began operations with fewer than 25 employees.

Our site is the home of Fab 11X, which is amongst the most advanced microchip-making facilities in the world.
Fab 11X began production in October, 2002. Fab 11X was Intel's first high-volume 300mm, or 12-inch, manufacturing facility.
Fab 11X is currently beginning production on the next generation 45nm manufacturing process.
The Intel New Mexico site is the only Intel site to host a U.S. Presidential visit. In 2006, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush held a round table discussion with Intel Board Chairman Craig Barrett and others on increasing the quality of science and technology education for U.S. competitiveness.

Employee involvement
In 2007, Intel New Mexico and its employees donated USD 3 million to the United Way of Central New Mexico.
In 2007, more than 54 percent of Intel New Mexico employees donated volunteer time working on behalf of children, education, arts and culture, the environment, and civic programs.
Intel donates USD 2 hundred to state-wide K-16 schools for every 20 hours of employee involvement at the schools through the Intel Foundation's Volunteer Matching Grant Program. In the past 26 years, Intel employees have generated over USD 1 million for New Mexico schools.
