Set up in Bangalore, India in 1998, Intel India Development Center is Intel’s largest non–manufacturing site outside of the US. The Sales & Marketing organization was established in 1988.

Taj Mahal, AggraThe design teams at Intel India contribute significantly to a large number of Intel's products especially in the areas of enterprise and mobility. Intel India is also expanding its R&D efforts to include core areas like power efficiency (Low Power IA), Terascale CPUs and health platforms.

Intel’s technology prowess has been demonstrated through its research labs, Mobility Group’s contributions to the Intel® Centrino® Brand Platform, Digital Enterprise Groups’ (DEG) contributions to Intel® Quad–Core™ Processor and the Corporate Technology Groups’ (CTG) contributions to "the World’s First Programmable Processor to Deliver Teraflops Performance.™ In the area of IT, the Bangalore team is becoming the primary competency centre for Intel's supply chain applications.

Intel India’s workforce has grown from 100 employees in 2000 to about 3000 in 2006. Intel’s investments announced in India to date have been over $ 1.7 billion. Its main areas of operation include Software and Hardware Design & Development, Sales & Marketing, Venture Capital (a strategic investment initiative to support related technology enterprise), CSR and Education.

Intel launched its World Ahead program in India in May 2006 and continues to deliver on Education, Accessibility, Content and Connectivity. Intel India is responsible for conducting over 750 IDFs and has filed about 50 patents to date.

Community volunteer work is a key part of Intel culture. It helps build leadership skills, increases morale and motivation, promotes loyalty, and adds a sense of personal fulfillment and fun. In 2006, about 75% of our employees had participated in community volunteer work. Diverse communities in India are being positively impacted as a result of these activities. We see the changes taking place in urban and rural communities, and these in turn have strengthened our resolve to enhance our commitment in this area.
