The annual Tree Planting Day, Global Earth Day and World Environment Day events are some of the various environmental protection activities Intel has organized for its employees and community residents.
Intel Chengdu's Green Home Talent Challenge airs final competition
The Green Home Talent Challenge, sponsored by Intel Chengdu, presented its final show to welcome “World Environmental Day” on June 2. Viewed by almost 700,000 people throughout Chengdu, this program is a pioneering project of "Intel Environmental Protection Walks into Community" aiming to spread awareness about environmental protection. By designing such programs that respond to relevant local needs, Intel Chengdu becomes a responsible and valuable member of local society.
Global Earth Day for 2006 ends
The closing ceremony of the 2006 Intel Global Earth or Environment Day serial event was held on June 3 at the Welfare Children’s Place in Shanghai with the attendance of over 100 students, teachers and Intel volunteers. All attendees were impressed by the student's modeling works showcased in the ecosystem modeling competition. After the top 3 prizes have been awarded, the 7-week long event finally drew to a close.
Shanghai high school students debate for the good of the earth
The 3rd Intel Cup Shanghai High School Environment Debate has successfully attracted students from many schools. Unveiled on April 22, World Earth/Environment Day, this year's Intel-sponsored debate focused on the theme of "Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development". More debates will be followed up and the last round will be held in early July on the topic of "The environment-friendly society depends on government control or civil virtue".
Second orchard in Intel Chengdu: 2,000 orange trees donated to help alleviate poverty
About 200 Intel Chengdu volunteers trooped to Leipo Village, Xinjing County, Chengdu to plant 2,000 orange trees in all on March 6. Moreover, Intel Chengdu also donated one PC to the village office and stationery for the farmer's children to help alleviate the poverty and give the farmer a more quality life, showcasing Intel's culture of caring for the community and determination in helping improve the residents' life for the better.
