Community involvement

Golden Gate Bridge We don't just work in our community. We work for it. Since 1968, Intel Corporation has been an active neighbor in the Silicon Valley community. Intel's collaboration with schools and community organizations have led to some promising results.

Grants, sponsorships and donations

In Santa Clara, we have an open request process. All grants should be submitted using the online grant application. By using this online application, you will learn more about our grant guidelines and what types of organizations we do and do not fund. Unfortunately, we have limited resources and have to make tough decisions among many worthwhile opportunities.

Applications in the Santa Clara area are evaluated on a competitive basis each quarter. The quarterly submission deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. When the first falls on a weekend, the deadline is automatically pushed to the next business day. Proposals must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

In Santa Clara, nearly all the programs we fund serve youth between the ages of 6-21. Within that broad category, we evaluate proposals based on many factors. Some of those factors are:

  • What youth–assets are deliberately being developed (please learn about Project Cornerstone for more information on the asset-building approach)
  • The program's ability to fill demonstrated needs for underserved youth
  • The scope of the youth served and the lasting impact it will have
  • Collaboration with other organizations and services
  • Efficacy of the organization providing the service

Intel Involved

Our company-wide employee volunteer program is known as Intel Involved. Through the Intel Involved program our employees spend thousands of volunteer hours every year mentoring youth, lending technical expertise, cleaning parks and more. Most of all, they had fun doing it.

Because of Intel's long-standing commitment to education, we offer an added-bonus for employees who spend time helping to make our local schools world-class learning centers. We do this through our Volunteer Matching Grant Program (VMGP). Through this program, every 20 hours of volunteer activity at a school earns USD 200 for that school. The twenty hours can be done by one individual or done by a group of employees. Last year, the VMGP earned over USD 160,000 in unrestricted funds for local schools.

If you would like to request volunteer support for your organization or event, please submit your request using the online volunteer request form. As you proceed through this request process, you will learn more about our criteria for supporting organizations.

Employee giving campaign

The campaign is held once a year in the fall and employees are encouraged to donate to their favorite non-profit organization. As an incentive, the Intel Foundation matches all employee donations with an equal donation to the employee's local United Way. This way, employees get to donate to the organizations they feel most connected to, and Intel supports our United Way to serve the most critical needs in our communities.

Diversity at Intel

One of the most compelling reasons behind Intel’s success in attracting the best and brightest employees worldwide is our dedication to helping every individual realize his or her personal and professional potential. To learn more, visit our Diversity at Intel Web site.
