Community involvement

Community programs
Intel Arizona employees believe it is important to support the community where they live and work. Intel has a Community Advisory Panel (CAP) that meets quarterly to discuss and provide advice on a variety of matters including education. community and the environment.

Additionally, Intel supports a variety of agencies and programs through volunteer involvement and donations. In 2007, through the Intel Involved program, more than 3,000 Intel Arizona employees donated more than 46,000 hours of their time to meet community needs. Intel Arizona’s commitment to the following focus areas showcases our commitment to the community:

Educational community outreach
To complement Intel's School–to–Work initiatives.
  • Through Intel’s Connected to Schools Program, Intel employees "adopted" Galveston Elementary School in Chandler for two years. Through the program teachers are provided with a science mentor to help teach science curriculum through hands–on experiments. In addition, volunteers participate in a week-long science camp for 100 students to inspire kids. To address the social needs of the students, Intel employees provided backpacks filled with holiday items of supplies for all students.
  • National Engineers and Technicians Week — In Feb. 2008, Intel volunteers visited schools to help students understand how math, science and engineering relate to the world around them.
  • Intel employees mentor students at San Marcos Elementary, Bogle Jr. High School and Hamilton High School through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring program.
  • Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair — More than 1,000 Chandler 4th–12th grade students participated in the annual science fair. Winners advanced to the Central Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair which is a feeder fair to the International Science and Engineering Fair. Intel is a major sponsor of all three fairs.

Great place to work
To support Intel employees' extended family in the community.

  • The 18th Annual Intel Benefit Show which showcases Intel employees' talents raised $4,000 in tickets sales. In addition, House of Refuge East and Community Bridges receive the donations of $15,000 and $5,000 respectively in Volunteer Matching Grants from the Intel Foundation.
  • Two food drives netted over five thousand pounds of food for local food banks.
Multiculturalism
