How do I set up a support account?
Your Intel® Premier Support account is created for you when you register your supported product. The login ID and password that you can use to access the Intel Registration Center is also used for Premier Support. If you have forgotten your login id or password, please go to the help available to you in the Log In section (right-side) of the Intel® Registration Center main page under the "Log in to My Account" button.
Product says "license has expired" when trying to install an upgrade. Why?
If you have purchased a renewal license and registered the serial number at the Intel Registration Center, the product could be finding the old license file during the installation. Please delete the old license file and re-run in the installation program. If you still get the message after deleting the old license file, please submit a support request (click on “Submit a Question” on the preceding page) and we can help. If you have not purchased a renewal license, go to our
Software Products website, select the appropriate product, and order a support services renewal. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.How do I upgrade from an evaluation to a full commercial version (single-user, node-locked or counted)?
To upgrade, you must
purchase a new license - there is no upgrade from an evaluation license to a commercial license. We recommend you uninstall the evaluation product first, including the evaluation license file, then install the full version.
How do I upgrade my single-user license to a floating or node-locked license?
Since single-user licenses differ in price from node-locked or floating licenses, you must contact your reseller and tell them that you want to exchange your single-user for a node-locked or floating license.
How do I obtain a beta license?
Beta product licenses are normally distributed by invitation only. If you are interested in participating in a beta evaluation, please submit a support request (click on “Submit a Question” on the preceding page) and we can help.
How much does it cost to upgrade my product?
Our licensing model is based on subscription, not version. If you are interested in installing a newer version of your product, and your subscription period is still valid, your existing serial number and/or license will work. For information on renewing your license (and associated pricing), go to the
renewal website. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.
Does Intel provide pro-rated renewals?
No. Renewals start from your subscription end date for the serial number that you renew. Example: If you apply a renewal serial number to an original license which had a subscription end date of 6/1/2006, then your renewal license will have a valid subscription from 6/1/2006 to 6/1/2007 no matter when you registered your renewal. For more information on renewals, please visitthe
renewal FAQ.

How do I upgrade my product to the new version?
Our licensing model is based on subscription, not version. If you are interested in installing a newer version of your product, and your subscription period is still valid, your existing serial number and/or license will work. To download the latest version, click on the "Product Downloads" button in the Intel Registration Center, which brings you to the
product listing page. This page displays all the products you have registered. Clicking on those links takes you to the product downloads page. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.Do I need to install each update in order, or can I install just the latest update?
You can just install the latest update.
How can I determine which products and versions my license supports?
Each license is associated with a serial number. If you log into the Intel Registration Center, you can view your product subscription information. For each product you have subscribed, you will see the product name, component names, latest version and download link. By clicking on any of the products subscribed, you will be provided with product subscription history. This includes serial number and support status with license expiration date. You will also be provided with links to manage the license information and links to renew your subscriptions. Expired serial numbers can be viewed by checking the Show Expired serial number check box on the top right corner of this page.
Are there any license types which can be shared with other users?
If you purchase a floating license, the license will have a specific number of “seats” associated with it that allow a specific number of users to use the product at the same time. After you have installed this license and the Intel FlexLM license server on a machine, an unlimited number of client machines may use the software, but concurrent usage is limited by the number of seats specified in the license.
My enabling license expired - can I renew it or do I need to purchase another license?
You can renew any individual product in your enabling package. Just go to our
Software Products website, select the appropriate product, and order a single-user support services renewal. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.How can I extend my license?
You can extend your commercial, academic, or enabling license by ordering a support services renewal for your product from your reseller. After receiving your renewal serial number, you will need to register it at the
Intel Registration Center. You will then need to follow the directions shown to install your new license file. To extend your non-commercial license, go to the
non-commercial software website and register again for your non-commercial product. Evaluation licenses are limited to thirty days from the time of registration. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.I purchased a full license AND a renewal at the same time. Which license should I use?
You should install with the full license first, and then register your renewal serial number. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.How can I extend an evaluation license for longer than one month?
This is normally not allowed. If you have extenuating circumstances, please submit a support request (click on “Submit a Question” on the preceding page) and we can help.
When does my renewal period start?
When you purchase a license for an Intel® Software Development Product, you are entitled to the latest version of your product, as well as any new versions which are released during your license period. When your subscription expires, you are "locked in" to the last version which released during the period, and you are limited in terms of support. A renewal license allows you to extend your support window and provides you with an upgrade path for new versions, premier technical support, and associated resources. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.Can I purchase a renewal for my product, or do I need to purchase another original license?
You can always purchase a renewal for your product; however, in some situations it may be more cost effective to purchase an original license instead. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.Where can I find my serial number?
Log in to the
Intel Registration Center and you can view your product subscription information. For each product you have subscribed, you will see the product name, component names, latest version and download link. Clicking on any of the products subscribed, you will be provided with product subscription history. This includes serial number and support status with license expiration date. You will also be provided with links to manage the license information and links to renew your subscriptions. Expired serial numbers can be viewed by checking the Show Expired serial number check box on the top right corner of this page.
Why do I need to register each license year to year?
Our licensing model is based on subscription, not version. Your license grants you access to the very latest version, patches, sample code, and supporting documentation for your product, for as long as the license period has not expired. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.What type of license is needed for a single computer with multiple CPU's?
With the exception of Intel® Cluster Tools, Intel® Software Products are licensed to a single user rather than to a single computer. For Intel® Cluster Tools, the Single Developer license enables individuals to inexpensively obtain a license. The Cluster System license enables organizations and universities to cost-effectively purchase licenses for a large number of developers. There are two important characteristics of Cluster System licenses. First, the license is tied to a specific cluster, so if you have two clusters, you will need to purchase two separate Cluster System licenses. Second, the license is not a "concurrent use" or "floating" license.
Where can I obtain a license for your products?
For information on license option pricing, as well how to request evaluation licenses, visit our
Software Products website.
What type of license is needed to compile and distribute a dll internally?
Please review the end user license agreement to see if your license type will allow you to compile and distribute a dll.

Can I uninstall a previous version of my product without impacting the latest installed version?
VTune™ Analyzer requires you to uninstall the currently installed version and install the new version; for all other products, including compilers, you can uninstall previous versions.
How can I install my product without internet access?
You can manually copy the license file you received when registering your serial number to the location specified by the INTEL_LICENSE_FILE environment variable and then proceed with the install. By default your INTEL_LICENSE_FILE environment variable points to the following locations:
- Windows*: c:\program files\common files\intel\licenses

Support expiration is based on your license terms. If you obtained a one-year license, your support period concludes after one year from the registration date. For more information on renewals, please visit the
renewal FAQ.Why did I receive a support expiration notice when I haven't installed the product yet?
Support expiration is based on your license terms. If you obtained a one-year license, your support period concludes after one year from the registration date, not from the time you install. If you have not installed the product, please submit a support request (click on “Submit a Question” on the preceding page) and we can help.
Is there some way to see what license is associated with my serial number?
Each license is associated with a serial number. If you log into the
Intel Registration Center, you can view your product subscription information. For each product you have subscribed, you will see the product name, component names, latest version and download link. Why do I get a " License acquisition failed" error when installing?
When entering your evaluation serial number during installation, having no internet connection causes the install to fail with the error message: "License acquisition failed"
Solution:
1. Register the serial number at the
Intel® Registration Center web site. If you have previously registered , please remember to use the same e-mail address.
Note: You will receive an email within few hours with a license file attached. If you do not receive this email,
contact us.
2. Copy the license file to the default system directory where the product will be installed. Example License file location:
On Windows*: \Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\
On Linux*: /opt/intel/licenses/
On Mac OS*: /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses
Note: The environment variable "INTEL_LICENSE_FILE" should point to the Intel License file directory and this directory should not have any expired licenses.
3. Start the installation again.
4. Instead of providing a serial number, select the Provide a License File option on Linux or Mac OS. (On Windows, you may need to click on the More Options button to make this option visible.)
5. Provide the complete path to the license file and include the license file name in the path. For example:
On Windows: \Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\w_cc_cd_eval.lic
On Linux: /opt/intel/licenses/l_cc_cd_eval.lic
On Mac OS: /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses/m_cc_cd_eval.lic
The installation should then proceed normally.

What components are included in the Intel® C++ Compiler Professional Edition 10.x?
The Intel® C++ Compiler Professional Edition 10.x includes:
- Intel® C++ Compiler
- Intel® Threading Building Blocks
- Intel® Math Kernel Library
- Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives
What Components are included in the the Intel® Fortran Compiler Professional Edition 10.x ?
The Intel® Fortran Compiler Professional Edition 10.x includes:
- Intel® Fortran Compiler
- Intel® Math Kernel Library
- The IMSL* Fortran Library is also available for Windows ONLY (IMSL is included in the Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Windows* with IMSL product offering).
What is the difference between Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler 9.1 Professional Edition and Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler 10.0 Professional Edition?
The Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows*, Professional Edition version 9.1 combined the Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler version 9.1 and the IMSL* Fortran library from Visual Numerics. With 10.0, Intel again offers a Professional Edition. However, there are two IVF Professional Edition offerings with version 10.0:
1. Intel® Visual Fortran for Windows*, Professional Edition, 10.0 combines the IVF 10.0 compiler with the Intel® Math Kernel Library 9.1. This package does not have the Visual Numerics IMSL* library
2. Intel® Visual Fortran for Windows*, Professional Edition, 10.0 with IMSL* combines the IVF 10.0 compiler with the Intel® Math Kernel Library 9.1 AND the Visual Numerics IMSL* math library.
The upgrade path for existing 9.1 IVF Professional customers is to the 10.0 IVF Professional edition with IMSL* product. Thus, existing 9.1 IVF/IMSL customers will continue to have IMSL plus they will have the Intel® Math Kernel Library. Another key difference with the IVF Professional edition 10.0 is that the 10.0 compiler comes with Microsoft Visual Studio Premier Partner Edition* (VSPPE). VSPPE is useful for customers who do not currently own an edition of Microsoft Visual Studio*.
Will all license types for Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler have access to Microsoft Visual Studio Premier Partner Edition* (VSPPE)?- Evaluation licensed users of Intel® Visual Fortran for Windows* 10.0 will not have access to VSPPE.
- Non-commercial licensed users of Intel® Visual Fortran for Windows* 10.0 will not have access to VSPPE.
- All other license types will have access to VSPPE.
Do I need to pay for the IMSL* library again, as I have already paid for it in 9.1 compiler?
The IMSL* library packaged with the Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional edition with IMSL* package includes a newer, more highly-optimized version of the IMSL library. Existing IVF 9.1 Professional Edition customers with active support contracts will be able to download this newer compiler and IMSL library.
If you are an IVF 9.1 customer and your support has expired, you will have the choice to renew your service contract to the 10.0 IVF Professional Edition + IMSL. You have the option of using your existing IMSL library with the 10.0 IVF compiler.
I am a Compaq Visual Fortran user? What does the 10.0 Intel® Visual Fortran compiler offer me?
The Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 10.0 has advanced optimization for the latest Intel® processors including SSE3 and SSE4 support, along with many new and improved optimizations. In addition, IVF supports Microsoft Windows Vista*, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005* and newer versions of Visual Studio as they are released.

Ubuntu systems may not be configured by default with all of the system libraries and utilities needed to run Intel compiler products. Missing Libraries and Utilities causes the product install to fail. The error message displayed during the install is:
“Certain Ubuntu installations do not by default contain all of the components which may be needed to install or operate this product.”
For Ubuntu versions 7 and later, to install the missing components
build-essential and libstdc++5, you can run the following commands:
sudo apt-get install
build-essential
sudo apt-get install
libstdc++5For operation of some 32-bit products on 64-bit operating systems, the following additional Ubuntu packages
ia32-libs and
libc6-dev-i386 may be necessary:
sudo apt-get install
ia32-libs
sudo apt-get install
libc6-dev-i386Note: Consult the operating system documentation for more information on the Ubuntu programs used above. The apt-get program is used to get packages installed. For systems in firewalled environments to use apt-get, you may need to set an environment variable, http_proxy, to be able to download content from the Internet. For users whose systems do not have Internet access, other package managers and utilities exist to install and update system package content, including dpkg and synaptic.

How can I evaluate Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows* if I do not own Microsoft Visual Studio*?
Please refer to
http://www.intel.com/cd/software/products/asmo-na/eng/368973.htmAbout Renewals
When you purchase a license for one of the Intel® Software Products, you are entitled to the latest version of your product, as well as any new versions which are released during your license period. When your license expires, you are "locked in" to the last version which released during the period, and you are limited in terms of support. A renewal license allows you to extend your support window, providing you with an upgrade path for new versions, premier technical support, and associated resources.
While a renewal license is more cost-effective than purchasing a new version, we do not support pro-rated renewals; renewal licenses are applied to the last day of your previous license period and “extend” the support services for the length of the renewal you purchased. In other words, if you purchase a one-year license renewal with two months remaining on your original license, you will have one year and two months of full support. If you purchase a one-year license renewal three months after your previous license expired, you will only have nine months of support remaining. Licensing costs vary by product, however generally if your license expired more than two years ago, a new license costs less than purchasing a three-year renewal.
