Intel® wireless networking solutions enable network connectivity without wires for notebook PC platforms. Intel products provide uncompromising performance, enhanced security and scalability for fast, flexible connectivity at work, at home, or on the road.
Intel® 802.11 Draft-N§ products
Intel® 802.11 Draft-N§ WiFi Adapters provide up to 450 Mbps of bandwidth¹ for today's demanding applications such as streaming High-Definition (HD) videos or backing-up your digital media files. In addition, Intel's 802.11 Draft-N§ products are backwards compatible to today's installed base of legacy 802.11a/b/g networks enabling you to connect in more places.
Mobile broadband on the go
WiMAX extends broadband connectivity beyond WiFi hotspots, enabling faster download speeds and metro-wide connectivity. To take advantage of existing WiFi hotspots and to offer service beyond them, Intel provides WiFi and WiMAX connectivity in a highly compact module on Intel® Centrino 2 processor technology notebooks. Take your high-speed internet with you around town with WiMAX-enabled Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology.
Building on the advanced Wi-Fi features of Intel Centrino 2, Intel My Wifi Technology creates a mobile Wi-Fi Personal Area Network (Wi-Fi PAN)¹ on select models of notebook computers. This new Wi-Fi capability allows simple, more secure and direct Wi-Fi connections for up to eight Wi-Fi Certified* devices.
Connect with Intel® Centrino® processor technology
The "Connect with Intel® Centrino®" logo means your Access Point has met strict, Intel-defined performance and interoperability standards, delivering the 802.11n bandwidth, range and compatibility you expect for your Intel® Centrino® processor technology-based notebook.
That means whole house coverage and better performance for digital media streaming, multiplayer games, voice over IP phone calls, and file transfers.
§ “Draft-N” refers to: IEEE P802.11n*/D2.0 Draft Amendment to STANDARD [FOR] Information Technology-Telecommunications and information exchange between systems-Local and Metropolitan networks-specific requirements-Part 11: Wireless LAN Medium Access Control (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) specifications: Enhancements for Higher Throughput.
¹ Up to 2x greater range enabled by 3x3 Draft-N implementations with 3 spatial streams. Up to 450 Mbps of Bandwidth based on the theoretical maximum bandwidth enabled by 3x3 Draft-N implementations with 3 spatial streams in combination with a 3 spatial stream Access Point. Actual wireless throughput and/or range will vary depending on your specific operating system, hardware, and software configurations. Check with your PC and access point manufacturer for details.
² WiMAX connectivity requires a WiMAX-enabled device and subscription to a WiMAX broadband service. WiMAX connectivity may require you to purchase additional software or hardware at extra cost. Availability of WiMAX is limited; check with your carrier for details on availability and network limitations. Broadband performance and results may vary due to environmental factors and other variables. See www.intel.com/cd/corporate/techtrends/emea/eng/wimax/ for more information.
