Mobilized Software Initiative

Who we are: Exciting technologies like Intel® Centrino empowers people all over the world to enjoy the wireless computing experience. The desire to unwire and become more mobile is only at the nascent stages. Intel China Software Center's MSI team was established in 2004 and the team's charter is to create the mobile platform/infrastructure and enable mobile aware software applications. Mobile devices such as laptops, cell phones & PDAs need to intelligently adapt to the resource & environmental changes to work effectively in the mobile world. To become a mobile aware application, it needs to have the following four MSI capabilities:

What we have: Intel® Mobile Platform SDK is the first product that the PRC MSI team developed, which was officially launched v1.0 in March 2005 and come soon with v1.1. It provides software developers a unified high level interface to address management of connectivity, power, bandwidth, storage, display, etc. With the SDK’s multi-language, cross runtime support, it seamlessly enables ISVs and end-users to specify and control the way the mobile platform dynamically reacts to changes in context. The content of Intel® Mobile Platform SDK includes libraries, re-distributable components, code samples and test utilities, in addition to an information model specification and programmer's guide.

Future: The SDK is part of a broader mobility initiative the MSI team will take on. We’ll continue to develop tools & products that will showcase the best technologies Intel has to offer, through which we will drive adoption, and acceptance of our vision and architecture in the mobility & wireless domains. We will also help accelerate ISV’s adoption of MSI by developing architecture, usage models and business cases for mobility.
