Intel CTO’s welcome letter to the Open House Guests

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to the Intel China Research Center Open House.

Just last week at the Intel Developer Forum in Shanghai, Intel showcased how we are delivering energy-efficient performance with products spanning from processors to platforms. These include the Intel® Core2 Duo processors based on our 65nm process technology and next-generation mobile platforms that will integrate advanced wireless capabilities and Robson Technology for improved responsiveness and battery life.

These industry-leading products were based on years of research and development to prove out the technology and the value to our customers. Given the years it takes to go from research to product, the research itself is typically forgotten by the time the products reach the market. At Intel we try to keep the world informed of our research progress by periodically opening the doors to our laboratories and giving the community a chance to see what we are doing and learn how it will enable better Intel products in the future.

Today we’d like to share with you the research that is happening right here at Intel in Beijing along with the work taking place at Intel research centers around world. The goal is to give you a hands-on experience with the early-stages of the research process and allow you to interact with the researchers that are driving Intel’s platforms over the next decade.

Please consider this my personal invitation to you to learn more about our research, ask the hard questions directly to the researchers, and judge for yourself the impact of the work. I think you’ll come away with a new appreciation of the significant accomplishments that are underway.

Thank you for joining us.

Best Regards,

Justin Rattner
Intel CTO
