The Industry Development - EMEA

Enable new or improved technologies for Intel and the semiconductor industry by fusion of Intel's leadership & resources with Israeli and European technological innovation

History:The Industry development program (formerly known as the “Best Efforts” program) was based on grant agreement between Intel Corp and the Government of Israel (GOI),to make the best effort in developing the local High Tech Industry between 1996 to 2005. Intel supported Israelis’ suppliers in different technological and business aspects, enabling companies to develop and sell their products to Intel and other parties. The program yielded sales of local technologies, services, materials and equipments in volume of ~ 1.8 Billion $.

A new agreement, follow and extend the previous one, initiated and singed with the Government of Israel (GOI) through the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor and the Industrial Cooperation Authority (ICA) in 2006. Intel further expanded its operations within the framework of the new program to include, amongst other things, encouraging foreign investment in the Israeli market and substituting import and development of local suppliers in other industries and manufacturing areas.

During 2008, Intel purchased from Israeli suppliers equipment, products and materials in excess of One Billion US dollars. A large portion of that purchase went towards equipment installation and qualification towards operations start in Fab28. 90% of the total construction costs of Intel's Fab 28 in Kiryat-Gat were paid to Israeli suppliers. In 2008 (the program’s 3rd year) the sum of Intel’s reciprocal procurement of equipment, technologies and services in Israel reached 640 Million US dollars. Since program inception in 2006, the cumulative contribution of Intel to the Israeli Industry is 3.1 Billion US Dollars.

The Program focus: Local supply chain development for Intel includes cooperation, investment and purchase from the local market.

  1. Development and qualification of new suppliers in Israel.
  2. Purchasing Goods, Services & Technologies from Israeli Suppliers, qualified for Intel.
  3. Sales of Israeli companies to 3rd parties of joint development products.
  4. Investments in equity, M&A's local content and foreign capital attraction (Intel and Foreign).
  5. Education and community relations.

What do we do: The Industry Development – EMEA Program operates as the crossroads between Intel Technology Manufacturing Group (TMG) and the Israeli high-tech industry, enabling Israeli based high-tech companies who are interested in conducting business and cooperating with Intel world wide to receive local support together with international technological and business assistance. The team seeks to collaborate with hi-tech companies in the aim of assisting them to enhance their competitiveness in the development of innovative and/or missing technologies in the global market that supports future Intel products and technology roadmap. This program elements focus mainly on engineering technological and commercial guidance designed to assist in the companies' successful penetration into new markets.

The methodology used to support hi-tech companies/suppliers in Israeli and European markets is followed.
