A Successful Intel Teach Advanced Online Consortium focuses on LMS and Community

Feldkirchen/Munich, 1 st February 2008 – The 6th International Intel® Teach – Advanced Online Consortium Meeting held on the 30th and 31st January in Feldkirchen/Munich was motivated by the desire to take the current programme to a completely new level, by combining the latest findings on e-learning with the latest developments in Learning Management Systems (LMS). The main goal of the meeting, attended by government representatives of the 7 participating countries and by Intel Education, was to find common ways on how to extend the reach of the platform by building a solid online community of teaching practitioners, while also expanding the professional development courses offered as blended learning concepts via the platform. UNESCO guidelines for teachers to use information and communication technology (ICT)

London, 1 st February 2008 – UNESCO guidelines for teachers to use information and communication technology (ICT) to improve education were presented to education ministers from more than 100 countries and to the press at the Moving Young Minds Conference in London. Developed in cooperation with Cisco, Intel and Microsoft, as well as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), the ICT Competency Standards for Teachers have been designed to help educational policy-makers and curriculum developers identify the skills teachers need to harness technology in the service of education. Intel and Corporate Citizenship Network talking to Head of the Federal Chancellery in Germany Berlin, 17 th January 2008 – On 17th January 2008, high level representatives from member companies of the German Corporate Citizenship Network „Unternehmen: Aktiv im Gemeinwesen“ were invited by the Head of the Federal Chancellery, Dr. Thomas de Maizière, for an exchange of views and ideas regarding the role of companies in Germany. The discussion centered around creative and sustainable approaches of cooperation between companies, NGOs and Governments for the future. Intel Award for Creativity at Djanogly City Academy – Nottingham

Nottingham, 7 th November 2007 – The effective collaboration between Intel Education UK and Djanogly City Academy has led to the creation of the Intel Award for Creativity, which was established as a new way to foster and recognise high levels of imagination and creativity.
