Amman, 3 rd March 2008 – A 4-days “Intel Teach – Advanced Online” training session was delivered last week to 21 Jordanian Senior Teachers delivered by Danny Arati (Online Programmes Manager for Intel Education) and Bill How (ICT Development Co-ordinator for Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, England). The session was hosted at the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Learning Technologies in Amman. The Senior Teachers attending this training are also called the “Champions”, as they are the first explorers of the programme and will contribute to the adaptation and contents of the new Jordanian Learning Paths.

The training started with a speech by Dr. Mohammad Al-Zu’bi, the General Manager of Training and Education Supervision, who welcomed the trainers from Intel and SSAT and the participants. The 21 participants are supervisors from the Ministry of Education, and who are also Intel Teach Essentials trainers and are subject mater experts. In the 4 days training the participants were exposed to an extensive agenda on the English Intel Teach Advanced Online platform. The training covered the objectives of the Intel Teach Advanced Online program, new concepts of the learning paths and the creation and implementation of the learning paths in school, training of mentors, quality assurance of Intel Teach and further platform development.

The participants experienced a hands-on practice on the platform and ended with developing their own learning path. The participants also had an overlook of the Arabic version of the Intel Teach – Advanced Online platform which will be used in Jordan.

At the end of the training certificates were delivered by the General Manager to all participants, and the ministry presented Ministry of Education plaques to the trainers in appreciation of their efforts.

The training was also a great example of collaboration at all levels between Intel Education, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

Back in May 2007, and during the World Economic Forum that was held at the Dead Sea in Jordan, Intel signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Jordanian Ministry of Education to develop the Ingtel Teach – Advanced Online training programme as part of the Intel Teach offerings which teachers can take following their completion of the Intel Teach Essentials and Thinking with Technology trainings. The Ministry of Education in Jordan has so far trained 50,000 teachers on the Intel Teach programmes since 2003,and they plan to train an additional 20,000 on Intel Teach – Advanced Online over the next 5 years. This is an integral part of their Education Reform for Knowledge Economy to provide teachers with the latest professional development programmes, for which Intel Teach is perfectly aligned.
