Pre-service
Overview

Intel works with the Ministry of Education and teacher training institutions and university teacher training faculties to integrate the Intel® Teach curriculum into national pre-service and in-service teacher training. In 2002, the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Education Division began to incorporate Intel® Teach into their pre-service teacher training program and to date has trained in excess of 50,000 teachers and educators nationwide. Since 2006, the Teacher Education Division has stepped up more efforts to integrate the curriculum further into pre-service teacher professional development programs.

The Intel® Teach curriculum augments the teacher training syllabus related to project-based approaches, technology integration and resource management subjects or programs for pre-service teachers. Intel has collaborated with the Teacher Education Division (BPG) to localize the module to Malaysia’s requirements and deploy the course through train-the-trainer model at teacher education institutions. The introduction of this program into the pre-service environment since the year 2000 is seen as an important step in ensuring continuous upgrading of skills in the teaching profession and in fulfilling the government’s vision and policy of human capital development in the 9th Malaysia Plan 2006-2010 (9MP) and National Education Blueprint 2006-2010. To date, more than 20,000 pre-service teachers, in 28 teacher training institutions nationwide, have taken part in the Intel Teach training program conducted by their Intel® Teach Program Master Facilitators since the year 2000.
