
Kumar Ranganathan leads the Trusted Platform Research group at Intel’s Systems Research Center at Bangalore, where he helps set the research agenda for advanced platform research. Kumar has over 16 years of experience in the U.S. high-technology industry in large technology companies like Intel and Motorola, as well as in startup companies.
At Intel, he has led the development of several advanced security technologies in Intel’s Corporate Technology Laboratories related to Trusted Computing, Digital Rights Management, and Autonomic Computing. Kumar has also been a staff architect at Motorola’s RISC Microprocessor Division working on microprocessor architecture, firmware, and operating systems for the PowerPC microprocessor. Prior to that, he helped spin-out Convera, an Intel-funded startup company specializing in digital content management and distribution over the Internet, as Director of Solutions Engineering and Architecture.
Kumar’s technical interests span a number of areas including: computer architecture, operating systems, autonomic computing, mobile computing, computer security, content management, open-source software and intellectual property management. Kumar holds an MS degree in Computer & Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics from NIT-K, Surathkal. Kumar holds two US patents and has 3 pending.
