Activities with Intel Research
Background After obtaining the Ph.D. degree, Dr. Tarng joined the Faculty of National Chiao-Tung University (NCTU), Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, R.O.C., where He now holds a position as Professor in the Department of Communication Engineering. His professional interests include radio propagation modeling and measurement, frequency management, radio network planning, radio allocation algorithm, smart antennas systems, EMC and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems). In these areas, he has published over 70 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings, including several invited book chapters and keynote/invited speeches. He has also led and co- led several National Research Programs, such as "Program for Promoting Academic Excellence of Universities-Phase I and II" supported by Ministry of Education and National Science Council (NSC) of Taiwan. He also won 10 times NSC research awards. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Communication Engineering Department from August 2003-July 2005, and then he was invited (on leave) as Chair Professor and Dean of Engineering College, Chung-Hua University since August 2005. He has been invited as the member of the following government policy-making or technical-consultation committees: The second and third CATV License Reviewing Committees (1998-2004), Government Information Office; Telecommunication Associate Board (TAB), Ministry of Transportation and Communications; the first and second Broadcasting Engineering Auditing Committees and the Frequency Management Consulting Committee, Directorate General of Telecommunications, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (1999~). Dr. Tarng was also a consultant of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, which is a national-level non-profit R&D organization. He also served as the Chair of Taiwan EMC 2000 Conference.

Background Nen-Fu Huang received the B.S.E.E. degree from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1981, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. in 1983 and 1986, respectively. From 1986-1994, he was an Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. From 1997-2000, he was the Chairman of Department of Computer Science, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. Since 1994, he is a Professor of Department of Computer Science at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. Dr. Huang is the Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Bandwidth Management on High-Speed Networks for the Computer Communications . From 1997-2003, he was the Editor of the Journal of Information Science and Engineering . He also served as the Guest Editor of IEEE JAC special issue on "Wireless overlay networks based on Mobile IPv6” in 2004. He received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the National Tsing Hua University in 1993 and 1998, the Outstanding University/Industrial Cooperating Award from Ministry of Education, Taiwan in 1998, and Outstanding IT people Award from IT month, ROC in 2002. He received the Technology Transfer Award from National Science Council (NSC) of Taiwan in 2004. He received the Technology Creative Award from Computer and Communication Research Center (CCRC), National Tsing Hua University in 2005. He also served as a Program Chair for the 14th International Conference on Information Networks (ICOIN-14) in 2000, and Taiwan Academical Network Conference, TANET2002. From 2002-2006, he also served as the President/Chairman of Broadweb Corp., Taiwan. He is now also serving as the Director of Ipv6 working group, NICI Ipv6 Steering Committee/Ipv6 Forum Taiwan. Dr. Huang has published more than 160 journal and conference papers. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
