Education Awards
Intel Education Awards are held annually in Pakistan to celebrate and promote technology integration by teachers and schools. The awards aim to motivate teachers and school administration to enhance implementation in the classroom and develop 21st century skills amongst students, with the help of technology.

Leading the future towards 21st century – Intel Education Awards
 
The awards are held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan and cover both public and private institutions. There are three categories of awards:

Technology Grant
The Intel® Education grant is awarded to schools showing the best use of technology in promoting an inquiry-based learning environment and for showing a clear understanding of the role that technology can play in providing a project-based learning environment for students. These schools should have taken concrete steps towards the integration of computer technology in the school curriculum, resulting in enhanced student learning and the development of higher order thinking skills in a collaborative learning environment.

Education Awards for In-Service Teachers
Technology prizes are given to in-service teachers who have used technology effectively in promoting inquiry-based learning. The award aims to showcase effective and innovative integration of computer technology into the existing curriculum while promoting higher order thinking and collaborative learning among students.

Education Awards for Pre-Service Faculty and Student Teachers
Technology prizes are given to pre-service faculty and student teachers who have used technology effectively in promoting inquiry-based learning. The award aims to showcase effective and innovative integration of computer technology into the existing curriculum while promoting higher order thinking and collaborative learning.

During the awards, the efforts of key government and external stakeholders are also recognized as it is through their efforts and support that effective and sustained integration of technology can take place in the education system.

 
Intel Education Awards 2010-11
 
 
In the information technology age, teaching has an emphasis on understanding how to use information technologies; teachers have access to a host of cutting edge research about how students learn. Teachers in the 21st century confront the challenges opened up by globalization. Teachers introduce students to the larger world, and moreover inculcate in them a sense of their own power to create change in the world. They transmit knowledge to students and instill in them a sense of their place in the larger world, and encourage them to be active participants in it. Intel Education Initiative acknowledges and appreciates such teachers who are true mentors of change in this era of technology through Intel Education Awards.

Intel Education Awards celebrate school professionals whose leadership and dedication inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities. The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made the highest meritorious contributions to the innovative use of technology in education. For the year 2010-11 Intel Education Award ceremonies were held during December at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. 17 teachers and 02 student teachers won technology giveaways in In-service and Pre-service Categories.

Each year Intel Education Initiative honors school principals and teachers who use technology in innovative ways to help students learn in an efficient way, for the contribution to the implementation of technology across subject areas and developing collaborative learning environment by facilitating the faculty, at the 2010-11 Intel Education Awards, 9 principals were awarded “Principal of the Year Award” while 8 teachers were awarded “Teacher of the Year” award for their spectacular efforts to use 21st century skills in a classroom, and prepare students to succeed in a world where an understanding of technology is important.
