Intel® Teach Program in Andhra Pradesh

Taking the Intel® Teach Program forward, an event was held in Gandhi Bhavan Government High School, Nampally Hyderabad on December 17th, 2008. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh for the launch of Intel Teach Program in the state. Around 210 subject teachers from 100 primary and secondary schools in Hyderabad would be trained on integrating technology into their teaching-learning process. On this occasion Classmate PCs were also donated by Intel to the host school.

Several dignitaries, including Mr. J. C. Sharma (Principal Secretary, Rajiv Vidhya Mission SSA, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh), Mr. Mohd. Ali Raffath (State Project Director) Mr. Navin Mittal (Collector Hyderabad), and Mr. Suryanarayan, (Director, Sales & Marketing Group, South, Intel India), Mr. Manav Subodh (Head South and West India, Intel India) were present to grace the occasion. Headmasters and teachers from different government schools were also part of the event.

The event commenced with Mr. J. C. Sharma inaugurating the computer lab. Thereafter, the dignitaries were shown a demo of the CMPCs and were taken through the professional development curriculum. They were appreciative of the curriculum and reviewed various aspects of the training. Mr. Navin Mittal, Collector, Hyderabad welcomed the Intel initiative in Andhra Pradesh. In his welcome address, Mr. Mittal informed the audience that in this information age, computer literacy is a must and Intel® Teach Program encourages effective use of Information and Communication Technology. He emphasized that technology-aided learning would help the students promote their self-confidence. Mr. Suryanarayan also thanked the Government for providing an opportunity for promoting computer-aided learning and project based learning in Andhra Pradesh.
