The 5th Asia Academic Forum, jointly conducted by Intel Higher Education and National Taiwan University was held at Taipei, Taiwan on Oct 22nd and October 23rd 2008. The theme of the Asia Academic program was 'Powering the Future: Technology Innovation for a Better World' . The forum brought together over 150 delegates from universities across eight countries in Asia. The forum focused on incubating and driving timely adoption of academic research and innovation by the industry and also accelerating the advancement of University curriculum that keeps pace with technological changes. The forum fostered awareness on global technology trends and built a conducive environment for interaction and collaboration between academia, industry and the government.

Intel® India Higher Education Program facilitated the participation of 15 senior faculties and researchers from premier research and academic institutions from India including Indian Institute of Science and IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai and VTU. Prof. S Dinesh from IIT Mumbai received the best research project under the Systems and Architecture category at Asia Academic Forum.
