The main focus of this event was to accelerate the advancement of research in Intel® strategic technology areas and update IIT Kharagpur faculty and students on new technologies. Prominent personalities like Vivekananda Vedula, Ajay Bakre, and Biswadeep Chatterjee from Intel® Technologies India Pvt. Limited. Prof. Pallab Dasgupta, Prof. Ajit Pal and Prof. Anupam Basu from IIT Kharagpur participated in this event. Also present were members from Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy.

This occasion established a long term relationship between Intel and IIT Kharagpur. During the strategic meeting on possible collaboration of IIT Kharagpur and Intel, India, IIT Kharagpur proposed signing of an MOU with Intel for collaborations on sponsored projects, student scholarships and internships. The possible research areas are:
  • Variable Tolerance Design
  • Silicon Validation
  • MID Architecture
  • Text to Speech to Text conversion
  • Biomedical sensing
  • Social Entrepreneurship

Around 40 Ph.D students attended this two day session and actively participated in discussions with Intel Technologists. The PhD students shared their thoughts and research studies on the areas mentioned above. On day one Prof. Pallab Dasgupta briefly discussed the key strengths of IIT Kharagpur and opined that they are open to collaborate with Intel for various research projects. Then Mr. Satish Narule (Product Manager, Higher Education) from Intel, provided a brief overview on the Intel Higher Education programs in India with emphasis on research programs, and Intel's commitment on building a conducive academia research ecosystem.

Thereafter, Intel® technologist took over the session and presented their work in various domains. First technologist was Vivekananda Vedula who gave a presentation on Silicon Validation. He listed some of the challenge areas and possible area of collaborations.
