The challenge we face today is how to find such opportunities which germinate from the social needs of the developing world and nurture them so as to have huge business as well as a social impact in the coming future.

Intel brought together selected incubators, incubates, micro-enterprises and students with ideas which result in innovations on 31 August 2007 at Intel India Development Centre (IIDC), Bangalore for the Social Entrepreneurship forum. The aim of this forum is to:

  1. Create mutually beneficial links between social entrepreneurs, institutions supporting it, students and Intel.
  2. Support grass innovators’ ideas as a tool for social change.
  3. Identify technological solutions and applications that can be use as tools to further strengthen a good idea into a profitable social venture.

To have a meaningful interaction, incubator managers from SINE-IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, JSS-STEP-Noida, TREC-STEP Trichy and VIT-TBI Vellore gave overview on their local environment, local needs & roadblocks and the support they expect from the industry. These were followed by the presentations by the incubatees, micro enterprises and students.
