Intel’s work to raise awareness of environmental issues, such as the
K-12 e-Green Initiative
, the '
Go Green
' campaign and
World Environment Day 2010
, has seen Intel Korea awarded the ‘
Excellence Award
’ by the Ministry of Environment in commemoration of World Environment Day 2010.
Environmental consciousness runs through every aspect of Intel’s work, as the company strives to minimise its environmental footprint. As well as addressing its operations, including product design and manufacture, Intel has also assumed responsibility in helping to encourage and educate tomorrow’s generation around environmental issues.
Since 2008, the Korea
K-12 e-Green Initiative
has fostered young environmental leaders and evangelists and empowered students and educators in the area of environmental science.
Initiatives include a nationwide environmental science contest; with winners from the contest taken on a trip to Intel’s facilities to learn about how chips are manufactured and witness eco-friendly operation management at first-hand.
Internally, Intel Korea initiated the ‘
Go Green
’ campaign to encourage employees to become more environmentally friendly by creating a ‘greener’ office environment. Intel Korea also organised its first Bazaar in commemoration of the
World Environment Day 2010
on June 5th.
The results were above expectations and, following the participants’ recommendations, plans have been made to expand the Bazaar to a building-wide event in collaboration with other companies housed in the building, such as 3M and Hanadaetoo Securities. All unsold goods were donated to the
Beautiful Foundation
, a local leading NGO for recycling.
