The very first South Asia Intel Teach Program Forum was held on 17th and 18th of December 2007 at Trans Asia Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This was a regional cross country collaborative event related to Intel Teach Pre-service training in South Asia. The objectives of the event was to bring pre-service partners from South Asian countries together to build a community and introduce the Sri Lanka pre-service stakeholders to Intel Teach program, leverage this platform for CAG (Corporate Advisory Group) program marketing, engage in policy discussions with pre-service stakeholders for curriculum integration and professional development.
India Education wanted to strengthen the relationship with pre-service advisory body (core committee) by giving them international visibility and help them build connections with South Asian counterparts; get Ministry of Education and key partner endorsement for future plans, pre-service teach strategies and business model, push policy agenda in pre-service environment for innovative integration of technology. On 16th December a special forum for India core committee was held with great success.
Pakistan Education wanted to build stronger relationships with existing partners, look for ideas for synergy between in-service and pre-service professional development initiatives, program marketing to existing partners by showcasing good work done, share BKMs (Best Known Methods) and learn from model/structure in other countries and engage in making the pre-service program more cost effective by looking for efficiencies.
Sri Lanka Education wanted to invite participants from Ministry of Education, National Colleges of Education (NCoE), National Institute of Education, and Universities to build awareness of Intel Teach pre-service training in other countries, discuss the value of integrating Intel Teach training into curriculum of NCoE to make Intel Teach training more cost effective with higher impact by empowering all future teachers.
It was attended by top academicians from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The invitees were very positive and actively shared their experiences and discussed what worked and not in their respective countries. All participants were immensely thrilled by the learning and the experience they had in Sri Lanka and suggested to have the next event in Pakistan.
The event was driven by Sharleen Ghauri the Education Program Manager of Pakistan with the guidance of Anshul Sonak the Education Program Manager of South Asia and hosted by Priyantha Weerabahu the Education Program Manager of Sri Lanka with the help of Learning Links Foundation of India and Sri Lanka. Rahul Bedi and Manav Subodh of India and Indika de Zoysa of Sri Lanka represented Intel in addition to the above.
The event was a great success and created a very positive impact among all participants.
